Liposuction means getting rid of the body fat by contouring the body
Almost half a million Americans get lipo to shape their bodies. Liposuction is contouring by surgery. It has appeared in France some 20 years ago and it’s being improved since then to make it safer and more effective.
Who should get liposuction?
Not all fat people are ideal candidates for liposuction. It can’t be a treatment for obesity.
Both male and females with elastic skin and muscle tone are ideal for lipo such as:
• The physical healthy people • Around 30% of their ideal body weight • The ones that don’t smoke.
It’s also important to know how exactly you want your body to look.
What parts of your body can be treated by liposuction?
• Inner and outer thighs • The upper and lower back • The buttocks • The abdomen • Near the armpit the upper chest • Both men and women’s breasts • Under the chin and neck • The upper arms • The back of thighs just above the knees • The knees • Ankles and calves
If you have love handles yet you’re a man with a great physical health, you can get liposuction. If you’re a woman and have a good skin tone but you have some extra fat, you can get lipo. There are also patients that say they want to lose 10 pounds, and have no explanation that’s logic. The lipo won’t take 10 pounds off.
Diet and exercise are not always what it takes
If you really have a weight problem, its best if you lose weight before the procedure. This kind of person can take more advantages from a tummy tuck, abdominoplasty –meaning removal of excess fat and skin. Lipo can make your skin look loose. The ones with little skin elasticity can develop some skin folds, rippling or grooves. It can’t treat cellulite or stretch marks either.
Who shouldn’t go through lipo? If you’re pregnant, have a severe heart problem or some blood clotting disorders. Also there are problems when it comes to diabetes or immune system disorders. Can’t get lipo in a scar tissue area. It’s impossible to suck the fat out in an area like that.
Liposuction can treat a lot of body areas.
This procedure is used to treat hips, thighs, stomachs of women. There are a lot of men trying this procedure to get rid of the love handles, fat under the chin or neck. They also want their waist line trimmed or to get rid of the male breasts known as gynecomastia. Also The New York Times reported that this is used to get rd of the bra bulge also, the fat that hangs over the bra in the back area. Also people use this to lose the fat around the knees and ankles.
How’s the lipo made?
It takes place under a general anesthesia and it goes from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the number of the areas that need treatment.
The surgeon inserts a canulla that is a hollow and blunt rod. It’s attached to a tube made of plastic and connected to a vacuum machine. The cannula sucks the fat away. The incisions are tiny, around one-eight to one –half of an each.
